Mayor Liecel Mondejar- Seville, Vice Mayor Nestor S. Sibolinao and selected Department Heads conduct “Panghinun-anon sa Barangay”, an inter-active meeting with the folks at Brgys. Baclayan, Cabilauan & Bilidan on April 17, 18 & 19, 2012 respectively. They presented to the people the programs, plans, budget and activities of the municipal government. This is one way to promote transparency in local governance.
Mayor Liecel want that the people will be aware of their rights, and to know what their local government unit are working for their welfare. The folks raised their concerns and was duly addressed. Mayor emphasized the local government’s initiative in agriculture, education, environmental, health & nutrition, peace and order, disaster risk reduction & management, social welfare, revenue generation, infrastructure and other best practices of the municipality that garnered awards from local, national and international bodies. |

Mayor Liecel Mondejar-Seville initiated the Operation Paltak because of her concern to children.  Summertime is the time for circumcision of young boys. In order to protect these young boys from infection if they do their circumcision somewhere else, the local government initiated Operation Paltak. It was held on May 1-2, 2012 at the Main Health Center, New Lucena, Iloilo. Young boys in every barangay were treated with free circumcision and medicines.
Mayor Liecel is very thankful to the Marine reservist, Municipal Health Offices of the Municipality of Oton, Pavia, Tigbauan, Maasin and Zarraga, the Iloilo Provincial Hospital and the New Lucena Polytechnic College, for the assistance they had given. At the end of the day there were almost 400 young boys who benefited the said program. |

Vice President Jejomar C. Binay arrived in New Lucena early morning of April 23, 2012. He was in jogging suit. There’s a light drizzle but upon alighting from his vehicle he started greeting the municipal and barangay officials that welcomed him and begun to walk around the plaza up to the covered court where the boodle fight is going to be held. He ate breakfast together with his party, the municipal officials and other groups. He has a dialogue with the Philippine Marines after breakfast.
The Vice President and his party, the municipal and barangay officials enjoyed the boodle fight together after which they proceed to the town plaza. He met the different sectors of the municipality. After a short program, he has a dialogue with the Persons with Disability, Senior Citizens, Barangay Health Workers, Day Care Workers and other sectors. He donated wheel chairs and P500,000.00 for the improvement of the Senior Citizen Center.
After the program the party proceeded to the New Lucena Polytechnic College for a dialogue with the municipal and barangay officials. The Vice President and his party listened to the concerns of the officials and promised whatever help they can extend. It is indeed an history to New Lucena being visited for the first time by second highest public official of the country. |
